Graduation…

We have come to the end of the journey as Live! Operations comes to a close. To cap off our achievements and to recognise the process, we are all promoted to the rank of Corporals in the Graduation Parade. There is a special appearance of our GOH, Mr Iszal as he is escorted on the Victory Truck to inspect the parade!

Each best trooper (there are 2 from each class) gets his ID Tag, he or she is reminded of the enriching and meaningful process of getting there…And slowly the teachers comes to each class to reward the troopers with a Graduand Bandana, symbolic of the struggle weve faced together to get to this day…a small token that reminds us that we can achieve anything if only we put our mind to it and do it together as a team!

Give me a round of applause…

One new exercise we learnt during this Live! Operation is called the success clap. We had to hold our hands outstretched parallel to the ground and clap over our head…The higher we clap the more successful we’ll be…the more we clap the more successes we’ll attain…every where we go we clap we clap we clap…its painful and it takes a lot of determination but soon we got the hang of it and begun to enjoy the process…and we learnt that when we do it together we can truly achieve more!!…perhaps one for the record books….we broke the Live! Operations Success Claps record by clocking a total of 2500 success claps!!!

CO Night!

At night, we had CO’s Evening…And all the classes had to come out with performances reflecting the school values…It was a funfilled night of entertainment, laughter and enjoyment as we truly basked in one another’s company! There was a touching part…where some of us who had been extracted from our group to go for a special leadership programme came back to be presented before the school…and when we sang the school song … all in the presence knew this was a special moment!

You, me, together & so much more.

From yesterday’s discipline & focus, fun & laughter we had, to today’s perseverance & teamwork (of course not forgetting to enjoy the process), we successfully completed the strenous long walk. Faced with physical limitations & natural circumstances like the pouring rain, by combining each individual’s strength, together as one only did we managed to push ourselves & achieved such satisfaction & pride.

Not forgetting our leaders who carried great initiative & represented Mayflower, they  embarked on a journey of self-discovery, set & achieved limits that they did/might not realise. Goals & dreams, with the desire, effort, willingness & hard work, we all can achieve. Pushing through mental encumbrances & breaking through limits, the leaders showed the true spirit of Mayflowerians with the right attitude to strive for excellence not just in school but also in life.

With teamwork, perseverance, immense joy & bond formed marking the last night to a memorable end, we look forward to the gift of new discoveries & missions tomorrow brings.

More to come !

The Great Raid

The finale was fittingly name the Great Raid! And each class had to conquer the territories of others by attacking them…The more islands and ships we won the more points we get! Its like the board game RISK but more action packed and more fun! To win territories we had to look for a rival battleship and shout contacted!…den we all must squat down and wait for a challenge from the game master…The game master would come out with interesting yet simple challenges and we just had to do what it takes to win the challenge…and the territories!!! Push ups success claps…taking out our shoes and putting it on again and again…Lying on each others stomachs…Rolling on the mud…The rain was not going to stop us! We are going to conquer the world!!!

The Victory March

The day begun  with Recce Patrol. Having our own sets of Platoon Commanders and Platoon Sergeants, we must go and find the checkpoints on our own given a map which we totally dont understand…

Passing Out!

After a day of challenge, striving for the impossible, hard sweat and camaraderie all around, we finally completed our BMT and made it for our first ever passing out parade. All smart and crisp with smiles all around, we rejoiced as we were promoted to the rank of Private! Today our training is complete, tommorrow our mission beckons!

It is not the strength of numbers but the strength of brothers…

As we reflect on our past day, we realise it is not always about the triumph but the struggle, not to have conquered but to have struggled…it may be tough but we get going…the road may be long but with the attitude we can go a long way…it is not about getting over the obstacles…it is about getting over ourselves….lets show our care to our brothers and sisters on our left and right…making a commitment to success…as we realize that attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference…we respect one another not just as fellow human beings but extraordinary heroes…and we take reaponsibility for our actions…on this path towards excellence…

Basic Military Training

The journey of a thousand miles always begins with a single step. And what way to build the right foundations but with basic military training. If in NS it takes 3 months at Live Ops Special Forces Command, it takes just one day. Through the shine and the rain through the hills and under the rivers, we came we saw and we conquered. We strived, we huffed and puffed through the running, the push ups and the success claps. We kept our discipline and focus as we perfected our drills. We had fun with the water and the laughter and we did it only together as one….
